About Us

Who We Are

Dr. Jay Scribner

In 2005 Jay Scribner retired from the pastorate of the First Baptist Church of Branson, Missouri. He served in that capacity for 28 years. This was his only pastorate.

The church grew tremendously under Jay's leadership. In a relocation project, a multi-million dollar debt-free campus was constructed. The church engaged in an aggressive mission program, both domestically and abroad.

Jay has had the opportunity to participate in approximately 30 international trips, encompassing over 20 different countries. He and his wife Kay established Branson's first Christian radio station. From 2003-2008 they began and administrated a K-12 grade Christian school.

Jay is a sought-after speaker, preacher, and teacher. He has held positions on local, state and national boards. He is a political activist. He is a passionate proclaimer of the inerrant Word of God.

Jay has been married to Kay for over 40 years. They have two married sons and five grandchildren.

Dr. Stanley Morris

Dr. Morris is one of America's leading Bible translators today. His vast experience in this field began in New York City (1968-1972) where he first served as Editor in the Translations Department of the American Bible Society. He feels very fortunate that he was carefully mentored by Dr. Eugene A. Nida (the foremost authority on Bible translating). While at ABS, Dr. Morris also worked closely with Dr. Robert Bratcher (the principal translator of Today's English Version (Good News for Modern Man). And, Dr. Morris worked directly under the eminent Dr. Bruce M. Metzger of Princeton university to produce the seminal book called A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament (1971-1972).

Dr. Morris collaborated to produce other printed volumes for the mission field, such as: The Theory and Practice of Translation (Leiden: E. J. Brill, 1969) by Drs. Eugene A Nida and Charles R. Taber; the Tshiluba Bible Concordance (1969) (an African language); the Cuna New Testament (1970) (a tribal language of South America); The Flora and Fauna of the Bible, a United Bible Societies' book to assist Bible translators (1970); six volumes for Old testament Bible Translators (preliminary Reports for the Pentateuch, the historical Books, the Prophetical Books, and the Poetical Books) (1970-1971); and The Bible Index (1972) in cooperation with Drs. Robert Bratcher and John A. Thompson. This was part of the The Helps for Translators Series.

Dr. Morris is a capable Professor in his own right. In the 1970's, he taught linguistics at the Toronto Institute of Linguistics, instructing missionaries about how to prepare themselves properly for their chosen fields around the world. The Manual of Articulatory Phonetics was his principal textbook. Since those early days, he has authored many Bible courses, particularly interactive ones.

In the 1980's, Dr. Morris helped several Bible publishers bring some important works to the press, such as: translating Luke and Acts into the Farsi language; creating AMG's best-selling KJV Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible (inspired by Dr. Spiros Sodhiates); and the very popular Thompson's Chain-Reference Bible (in Spanish).

In the 1990's, Dr. Morris turned his attention toward electronic publishing. He created the first commercial Bible CD-ROM ever produced. It was done for Ellis Enterprises, Inc. of Oklahoma City. Later, IBM wanted to publish their own rendition of it. Upgrades of Dr. Morris' original work are still being distributed widely in many chainstores (Walmart, Office Max, Radio Shack, CostCo, et al). It is called The Bible Library. His pioneering efforts led to much more work for BibleSoft; Parsons Technology (QuickVerse); NavPress (now known as iExalt and WordSearch); Bible Explorer; Logos (Libronix); and Theophilos.

In 1995, in association with John R. Kohlenberger III and Multnomah Graphics, Dr. Morris revamped all of Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary for the back of Thomas Nelson's New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.

What We Believe

The Holy Bible is the only authoritative Word of God. It is God's revelation of Himself to humankind. We believe in:

  • The complete, full (plenary), verbal inspiration of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
  • It is infallible (John 17:17; Romans 3:4; Titus 1:2).
  • It is inerrant (Matthew 5:18; John 10:30-38).
  • It is incorruptible (Psalms 119:89; Jeremiah 36:1-32; Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:23-25).
  • There is only one true, living God. He is eternally existent in three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; 14:16-17,26; 15:26; 1 John 5:11-12).

We believe in Jesus Christ:

  • His deity (Matthew 1:23; John 1:1; 5:18; 10:33)
  • His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18,20,23,25; Luke 1:27,35)
  • His sinless life (John 8:46; Hebrews 4:15; 7:26)
  • His supernatural miracles (John 2:11; 20:30-31)
  • His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9)
  • His physical resurrection (Acts 2:31-32; 17:30-31; Romans 1:4; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Ephesians 1:19-20)
  • His ascension to the right side of the Father (Mark 16:19)
  • His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 1:7-8; 19:11-16).

  • We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for the salvation of mankind (Titus 3:5). This is necessitated because of the overwhelming sinfulness (total depravity) of our flawed human nature. (Romans 3:23; 5:12-19; 7:7-25; Ephesians 2:1-3; Colossians 2:13; 1 John 3:4)
  • An individual is saved (redeemed, born-again, regenerated, and reconciled) because of God's grace (unmerited favor) imparted as a result of our faith. Our salvation is based totally upon the finished work of Christ on the cross, His shed blood as the effective atonement for our sins (Hebrews 9:12-15), and God's free offer of love, grace, mercy, blessings, forgiveness, and exoneration. Our trust in who Christ is, and what He did, is the only means of establishing an eternal relationship with God. (John 3:16-21; 5:24; 14:6; Acts 4:10-12; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; 10:9,10,13; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; 1 John 5:11-12;)
  • There will be a general resurrection of all the saved people and all the lost people; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29; Acts 17:30-31; 24:15,25; Revelation 20:11-15).
  • The Church is the spiritual, unified body of all truly redeemed believers (John 17:20-23) - whether Jews or Gentiles (Romans 9:23-24; Galatians 3:28-29) - in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-27; Ephesians 4:4-16).
  • The Holy Spirit indwells every Christian believer thus enabling us to live an empowered life of godliness. (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).
  • Spiritual discipleship is essential for progress toward maturity in the Christian life. This includes water baptism by immersion, regular assembly with other faithful believers, continual prayer, personal worship and devotion, separation from worldly living, studying the Holy Scriptures, memorizing them, and meditating upon them, obeying God's Word - and much, much more (Joshua 1:8; Psalms 5:3; 119:11; Matthew 21:22; 28:19-20; John 14:15; Acts 16:27-34; 2 Corinthians 6:17; Ephesians 5:11; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 John 2:4; 5:14-15).
